Day 11: Colonia, Uruguay

i had one more day in Buenos Aires and was tossing up going to Uruguay or a gaucho tour. since i already live in a place like Newtown i didn´t want to see a cattle ranch like Dubbo, and opted for the 1.5hour ferry ride to Colonia. it´s a UNESCO heritage site (though not as interesting as it sounds) and is full of cobblestone paths. the humidity and heat meant that after my 4 hours of walking around i now need an urgent leg transfusion.

came back and filled out more forms (under Reason of Travel they really need another box next to ´Tourism¨, ¨Work¨ and ¨Visiting¨which says ¨Single-handedly Surpporting the Empanadas Industry¨) despite the fact that both immigration border officers were sitting next to one another

the water is so murky, and must say i am proud i didn´t yak. tried this burger joint, very good. came back for another steak (this time the place was so local they didn´t speak english. i forgot how to saw ¨rare¨so i said, ¨ME GUSTA SANGUINE¨(¨i like blood,¨ at least i hope i said that). then because i wanted to punish myself some more, walked to Cominita (a really garish part of town, it´s like the Joker is the mayor) about 3km away and pretty much spent all my money on handicrafts and mate bowls (surely an adjective, not verb. i think they drink from them. in one hotel pamphlet it recommends people to go to the river for ¨relaxation, swim and mate¨)

because i´m a baby i also then took some hydralytes in my drink after i had consumed 2 litres of agua so now i´ll be peeing all night
